Two: Image-Rejection
Two: Image-Rejection
Big Smile, Love and Positivity Salesman, Can't Do No Evil
The point of fixation with embodiment of Goodness, Compassion, and Generosity.
Image-Rejection lets go 2 of the heart center’s need for complexity and complications of value and image expression by only relating to what simply communicates the heart’s need for acceptance, validation, and love externally. Thus, severing the complicated or gray areas of the self, to become consistently reliable as a source of meta-validation - where the state of presence of the two seeks to overpower all contextual bases through the consistent flow of perfect sight of the other and loving nature of the self.
Type 2 subverts the image center’s need for worth by becoming the beacon of love and source of validation, denying the need to process the complexities of self. This creates a tug of war between the consistent image of goodness and the more messy needs for validation — creating a void on the receiving end of validation.
The constant seeking to remain consistent and “good” creates a void where all the unwanted and chaotic aspects of self are not allowed expression. This can boil tension in relationships as other people are not allowed to access or acknowledge the hidden aspects - but desired to do so.
Unlike 3, Enneagram 2 simplifies the heart center's need for love and validation and instead becomes a resource for it - severing the need to analyze and update the self toward continuous change. And unlike 4's that define an iconoclastic image that is only validated through judgmental segregatory parameters and self-aggrandized fantasies, 2 expands the reach of the heart center to include all who have a glimmer of light - emphasizing the goodness to keep the dark side unprocessed and unexpressed.
Enneagram 2 can be defined as The Heart of the Heart center - where the core need of this center is most consistently expressed.
The Hidden Triads as they relate to #2:
Heart (2, 3, 4): Consistent embodiment and expression of the qualities that interpret the inner self as being ultimately good-natured beyond reason
Transactional/Superego (1, 2, 6): Belief that providing for others and maintaining standards of behavior establishes relationships where the self is provided for
Rejection (2, 5, 8): removal of the complexities, dark, and triggering aspects of the psyche from observation to continue doubling down on the self's power at generating what it desires for its fixation. Breaking other's boundaries to provide love while remaining at arm's length.
Positivity (9, 2, 7): Belief that perspectives alter reality and by affirming the silver-linings, difficulties can be mitigated. Can be a form of escapism.
Desirability-Seeking Triad (9, 2, 4): Embodying a unique quality of boundary-breaking love and intimacy that creates a signature need that only the 2 can provide - turning them into a fix that that others get hooked to for warm and intimate feelings.
